Part of the Redemption of Wist Trilogy – Book 3 of 3

Prasad – They say you aren’t meant to have favourite children, but this is the favourite of my works.   The characters and the story begins to lose its grip on reality (or realities) as the story approaches its climax, and who doesn’t love a dose of 2001: A Space Odyssey?

Synopsis

Wist was left catatonic and the world trapped in perpetual night in the aftermath of the war between the Giants and the Intoli, by his own actions and the scheming of his brother Tilden and his lightless allies – the Waren. Now Aviti and her companions are determined to take Wist to the far north of Prasad to find an answer to the Waren and to free Wist from his self-imposed exile.

But navigating the dying world is only one of the problems they face. The Waren pursue them, determined to crush the last hope for the world. And what of Tilden? Where does he hide and how will he strike next?

Their mission for salvation will become a voyage of discovery, as well, transformations and heartrending shocks. Startling answers to old mysteries are revealed.

Reviews

The worst thing about this book is that it brings the Wist story line to an end. Maybe we can petition Mr Gilchrist to do another one….There’s lots left in this universe yet.

Closing Thoughts

This was the easiest and hardest of the three books to write. The pieces were all on the board, their path was mapped out and the finale beckoned. Problem was, there were still may threads to weave, tales to end. I think I was most satisfied with the way this book ended up. Another problem is that, just like reading when reading a book, you want to get to the end, but when you do it will be over. The characters will have completed their journey and there is no more to discover. This is as true for the author as it is for the reader. So, it was with equal measures delight and regret that I put the final words down on the page. And then it’s on to the next thing, but I think Gandhi put it better than I could. “Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth”
