The Lyrat Pair: Inspiration

A little moment of calm before my new book comes out very soon. On the 10th May to be exact. So, I thought I’d take a moment to explain a little about it.

It started off as a little bit of back story about two of my characters Tyla and Faric, the titular Lyrat Pair. It was meant to explain how they came to abandon their people to aid Wist.

Pretty soon, I ended up researching Hitler’s speeches and the rise of fascism. Funny how things turn out. I ended up adapting them and using portions of them in my text.  I’d like to think its a warning about blindly following any idea/cause.

 

Countdown to Prasad

Only 85 days to go until I unleash the final part of my fantasy trilogy Prasad (The Redemption of Wist book 3).

I’m really happy with the story and the conclusion of the tale.  I need to go through it again just to try and take out any wee typos that lurk in the depths of the manuscript.

Then it’s formatting and it’s all yours elflings!

Look what arrived in the post!  Parts 1 & 2 of Prasad ( my latest WIP and book 3 of the Redemption of Wist Series).

Well its the first draft of it.  About 60k words worth of unedited first draft.  I’ve got it printed nice and big so I can scribble on it too.  When I’ve done the second half I’ll order that through CreateSpace as well.

I like doing it this way, rather than printing out sheet upon sheet of A4.  Gives you a nice warm feeling to hold a real book.

 

May target update

For those of you keeping notes, I said (somewhere) that I’d try to hit 70k words in my WIP (Prasad) this month.

At the start of the month I was on 56,412 words.  So that’s about 13.5k in a month.  I average about 320 words a day so that’s only about 9.6k, although my best month with this book is over 12k so I reckon it is do-able.

To date (10th May) I’ve done 63.2k.  Time to get your calculators out.  That means I’ve done 6800 in 10 days.  That gives me 20 days to do the same again ( more or less).

Ah, I hear you (or someone) say, but surely you could write twice as much in double the time.  I suppose I could but I canny see me doing that much again.

So I’ll stick to my targets.  If I hit them… go me… if not I’ll try again next month.
